THE DOOR OF THE TOWERS
If you leave the campsite Les Pialades you will come to the imposing and beautiful Porte des Tours. The two half-towers surrounding the entrance have a rich historical past. They were used as guard rooms and also as a prison for 70 Templars who were held there from 1307 to 1318.
The Templars’ graffiti
The 70 Templars imprisoned in La Porte de Tours left enigmatic evidence of their imprisonment by engraving on the walls. Still visible today, these mysterious graffiti are the subject of a visit offered by the Domme tourist office.
The cave of Domme
The underground of Domme also holds some nice surprises! At a depth of 20 m, the Domme cave is a real masterpiece with its ceilings decorated with thousands of stalactites, stalagmites, gigantic columns and incredible draperies.
